Landrum Kelly 65 Posted March 19, 2004 The Shroud of Turin came to mind when I saw the thumbnail. Very nice work, Kim. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted March 19, 2004 Thanks, Lannie and Igor. This started as an image of my garden monk statue, then I inverted it, added a distorted flower picture layer and went from there. Link to comment
darko1 0 Posted March 19, 2004 I do not now what will Jim say,but I say excellent/excellent!! Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted March 20, 2004 Thanks, Darko. It's kind of different, I know. You could say that I get my inspiration from Jim except I can't think of much to say like he does on his compositions. I don't normally think of a concept first and then come up with a composition; I tend to start with an image and work from there. Link to comment
hugh_hill 0 Posted March 20, 2004 Wow-wee! this is spectacular Kim, I am so frustrated as I am in Thailand and will be for another 2 more weeks (been here almost 1 already)and cannot upload my images to date as most of the internet cafes are paranoid about using ther PC's to upload files as they think that their machines will become contaminated with strange virus's miss everyone but will continue to view yours and their work. Regards Hugh ps today I am going to the largest orphanage in Bangkok to do an interview with the staff and take some pictures of the children playing, hope I don't make a fool of myself by crying... kslonaker 0 Posted March 20, 2004 Hugh, looking forward to seeing the images you bring back with you. I'm sure they will be as sensitive and thought-provoking, as always. Stay safe! Link to comment
1000wordsphotography 0 Posted March 20, 2004 This is incredible! Reminds me too of the shroud. Great work Kim! One day you will have to teach me how you use PS techniques so well. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted March 21, 2004 Thanks, Regina. It's worth investing in a book or two to learn PS basics and then "play" from there. PS can do so much and I know I've barely even touched the surface of learning it. Link to comment
james_oneill 0 Posted March 21, 2004 Like Lannie, I got "Turin shroud" from this - reading your explantion I guess what I see as "rib cage" is actually part of a flower ? I did wonder for a moment if this was supposed to be Christ looking up at where your brain should be from where your heart is.... I'm not going to put a score for now because it is in a class of pictures which I can appreciate, even admire, but I don't like it. I could probably justify giving it a 1 or a 7 on aesthetics.... well certainly a 2 or 6. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted March 21, 2004 Thanks for your honesty, James. To be truthful, I don't know if I even like it, either. It's interesting and compelling, though, I believe. The "rib cage" is a distorted flower I did and combined with a picture of a statue of a garden monk. People can put their own interpretation on this and I found yours interesting. Thanks for commenting. Link to comment
donnaalbers 0 Posted March 22, 2004 Hi Kim, at first this kind of spooked me but on closer observation I think this is really an interesting image. The eye treatment is very evocative and the "rib cage" gives the sense of his being trapped. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted March 23, 2004 Donna, even while I was working on this, it was kind of spooky. But by the time I finished, I thought it looked more "haunting", hence the title. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted April 1, 2004 Thanks, Pawel, for visiting and commenting. You should see the image on this monitor! It's a deep copper, with lots of shadows. My mom needs a new monitor badly! I'm not rating any pictures until we get back home, to be fair. Link to comment
steve_bingham 0 Posted July 14, 2004 Excellent - and full of questions. It certainly is an unusual emotional tone. I like it. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted July 14, 2004 Thanks, Steve. One more reason why I love Photoshop! Link to comment

Pierre Dumas 286 Posted February 13, 2007 Not quite understandable to me though! Reminds me of Jesus and He wasn't haunted! It reminded me of Jesus on the thumbnail, not anymore! This man is exhausted and lost in a way! Pleasant effect applied! Well done Kim! PDE Link to comment
