chris russ 0 Posted March 16, 2004 First of all, I like the concept very much. The tricks with perspective bring my eye right to the apple, and everytime I look away, it brings me right back. You have a shallow depth of field (which isn't a problem by itself), but it is the fabric at the corner that is in focus, not the apple. This is a problem to me because I'm continually drawn to a place that is out-of-focus. Link to comment
john_crosby 0 Posted March 16, 2004 The contrast of black and white check makes the intense red all the more appealing. You have very good taste. And have you eaten the apple yet? Link to comment
marius_finkenhagen 0 Posted March 17, 2004 I love this picture, the contrast betwen the apple and the background is very good and composition is splended to! wanne see more photo's like that. Link to comment
aaronsizer 0 Posted March 18, 2004 Yeah, great idea, but I agree that the apple should be in sharper focus. Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted March 11, 2007 very fine. this sort of image does call for *total* detail perfection so I'll point out two little issue that an average advertising agency art director would fuss about (they fuss about every tiny detail if they're good), in addition to the matter of depth of field: 1) the apple deserves a little more lighting into the recess with the stem 2) the table cloth isn't ironed properly..there's a wrinkle just to the left of the apple that's distracting. Both of those issues could be fixed with Photoshop, of course. that depth of field problem might also be resolved if you put the right foreground into shadow that was somewhat deeper than the shadow in the left background..it wouldn't hurt to have the apple sitting, ready to fall into darkness. i noticed one more flaw: the reflection in the apple should only show one rectangular white, not the current two broken whites. an illustrator would make one rectangle, you should too.
