I detect the toll of melancholy in your title. But I do not see it in your picture. Yer man doesnt seem in the least bit sad. On the contrary, he has many, many summers before him and hell be just as interested in scampering about at the seaside next year. The picture is warm and your sons fit and upright. One might even regard him here as the prince of all he surveys. No John, the melancholy is yours. Perhaps because the summer has been very kind to you and you can not think how to repay it.

I like this one. The hard shadows in the foreground against the soft clouds really set it off for me, and the bridge is a nice compositional element.

Thanks Phil and Sam. Melancholy title? I'll have to change it. I didn't mean it to be. This was from late summer 2003, a year ago. Just another learning neg in the big camera, that I flipped past last night and decided to scan. The "bridge" in the background is the burned-out Bridport Jetty.

On the risk of sounding too square or old-fashion. I think increasing the DOF to get the full depth of the image in focus would make it beter.
