Unmanipulated, uncropped, -- some reflection of flower color onto

skin--he's in middle of field of 8'-10' tall gladiolas in bloom.

Perhaps he was just rubbing his eye, but my recollection is that in Mediterranean Europe, the above jesture is equivalent to a flip of the finger in the US.

In any case, you got a good catch of the moment.

Elsewhere in my folder is a photo of a woman 'flipping me off' and a discussion there and of another photo taken in Budapest of various finger signs.

As it happens, this particular finger sign doesn't mean anything, so far as I know, anywhere, even in Europe (unless you are really tuned in).

In Europe, the universal gesture is the fully extended index finger with the rest of the fingers curled up. However, Italians, for instance) have a full vocabulary of finger and hand gestures, so possibly other countries do also, and I don't profess to have the last word.

Thanks for the comment.

As the title suggests -- he just had a mote in his eye. I liked the 'wrinkles' in his forehead, repeated by the 'wrinkle' pattern in his cheek where he was pulling the skin around his eye down to get at that mote.
