E-lec-trical Banana

This is an idea I came up with the other day, and is basically my first try. Do you find it interesting? Too obvious? Should I work on this further? .

 

Basically the final image is a single shot and generally unmanipulated, though I did pump up the color in the banana The original banana shot was displayed on the computer screen with the other props in place. I know that ideally the lighting on the hand and arm should match better as should the scale. Title courtesy of Donovan. Thanks for your comments.

Wow Thomas what a great idea definitly one worth investigating further. The hand and arm line up beautifully . The variation in lighting isn't to my eye bothersome as much as the difference in colour value. But I'm affraid I wouldn't know where to begin to fix that one. (unless you're open to more ps????)

 

What do you think if just a bit of the bottom of the banana was to poke through between the grapes and the apple.....furthering the illusion and pulling us back out of the screen ??? Just an idea. Oh I rated the photo only because I want it in my favorites section and I'm not sure how to do it any other way. Very nice. Sally

Interesting, Thomas. Just as a matter of interest, what does it look like with no colour manipulation of the hand? I ask this because the PC screen background is sufficiently different from the jet-black background of the main pic so as to tell us it is a computer screen image we are looking at and not just a 'hand behind a frame'

 

Just my 2c. I haven't rated your pic because I don't give ratings on other people's photos (a) I don't feel qualified to do so and (b) I think, in any case, IMHO the ratings should really cover three areas - aesthetics, originality, AND execution (or "technical merit"). But, just for the record, for me, with some changes to that hand, this would would score well in all three

Sally, Thank you. The idea for cutting a piece of banana and have it stick out from below is great! And I don't care if you rate my stuff, I just don't put a lot of stock in ratings. Thanks again!

Peter - There is not color manipulation on the hand. The color manipulation was on the banana. The screen didn't render the colors as vibrantly as I was hoping. Maybe I need to pump up the color on the hand too. Thanks!
