david-nicolas 0 Posted February 24, 2004 This was taken in the crude hospital of a village of lepers, in the desert, near Cairo. The Little Systers of the Poor provide some help there. (There are other illustrations of their action in the same folder: "us".) Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted February 24, 2004 David - this is an amazing and powerful (and emotional) folder. I am comment-less ... only in that I am speechless. These are images of things that I never have been able to picture in my worst imaginings. Thank you for sharing with us. Link to comment
gareth_harper 0 Posted February 24, 2004 This is a strong picture and one that is difficult to comment on. Looked at the other pictures in the folder, and this along with some of the others could maybe benifit from a lower perspective. Getting level or slightly lower than the subject can often be even more engaging. Don't be afriad to get on your knees! Do please post more. Link to comment
john_lyons1 0 Posted February 24, 2004 Great portrait, whatever the perspective! Difficult to look at. Link to comment
david-nicolas 0 Posted February 24, 2004 Thanks all for your comments. I appreciate it. Just a word. I hope these pictures do not appear to be "sensationalist". They are not aimed at sensation. They are just a testimony. Link to comment
david-nicolas 0 Posted February 29, 2004 About perspective: even though photography manuals tell you not to use a "high" perspective on human subjects, my impression, with the images in this series, is that it's perfectly all right, and maybe even slightly more original! Does anyone have more refined thoughts about this? Link to comment
david-nicolas 0 Posted February 29, 2004 About the background: I find it in fact rather well illuminated, one can clearly see anything in it, with its various colors. More thoughts about this? Link to comment
