Callahan trees revisited

donsorsa

Shot with a new (1954!) Rolleiflex, developed and scanned by a complete novice. It's a testament to the equipment that these trees are even visible; focus will be my next issue. I shot the same scene (different angle and perspective) with a digicam but feel like I MADE this image.

I posted a similar photo, but this one has a different feel, to me anyway, because I used a

digicam on the first. See tech details for more info. I developed this in Diaphine, and still

have much to learn. Thanks for any suggestions.

Michael,

The tilt might be an illusion because the trees are on a slight incline so you're seeing a hill and not the horizon. It is possible, however, that the lens was tilted. Thanks.

Don: I think this is a superb grayscale image - as I see it, elements are nicely separated by levels of gray (open snow, shaded snow, branches, trunks) or geometry (benches).

Simple is good. Everything contributes.

Having said that, look at the possibility of cropping it a little above where the rightmost tree forks. Maybe where that left branch stops its abrupt narrowing. Just a thought.

Thanks, Jim, and good suggestion about cropping. Too bad I lost the right hand part of the negative because, I think, the reel did not slide all the way down to tank. More coming.
