I think you should have tried not to have the toilet on the picture or have more of it. And also using a different perspective might help.

I'm not sure what this is saying but if you can eat off the bathroom floor you have a great house keeper!!!

Hmm, well its viscerally disturbing for sure...are you trying to make a point, or just messing about? Not somethign I'd hang on my wall, but would enjoy seeing at an exhibition.

Thanks for the comments so far. More from me later.

Stephane - I'm curious why you think more of the toilet would be better? Also why not include it at all? I'd like to hear more.

Thomas, more of the toilet or no toilet at all would maybe force you to change your angle, unless you do it just with your lense. I don't know if the result would be good or not but it might worth tring it. As Elaine wrote, I would not hang on my wall but a serie of this kind might end up being something really interesting.

Thank you. I was definitely limited on space, and I definitely wanted to include the toilet. Thanks for the input.

Keep doing your work and keep experimenting, better to be different than become a sheep....there are of course some really helpfull people within this site, just not enough

Yuk is what this image brings to mind. Breakfast on a bathroom floor is quite disgusting. I did, however, rate this picture high with a 6 for originality and a 5 for aesthetics which obviously means I LIKE THE PHOTO.

Thomas, I like it. I think a little more of an angle to the frame would be more bold. Perhaps bring the breakfast a little closer to the toilet & cast a little stronger light on the breakfast. Seems that the strongest light is on the back door and its a bit blown out. I have that floor in pink & black in my bathroom (damned 80's)

And still, YUK!

(added)

not a door but a radiator?

Heather - First let me say thank you for your added critique. I think you make some good points. Yes, it is a radiator.

Second, I understood your first comment, and did not find it offensive. I'm sure the critique I offered one of your images conveyed that there were no hard feelings.

Now the not fun stuff: I actually had already seen Mark's comment on your image. I decided to forward him an email trying to convey that I did not support his position and suggest in the future he refrain from prompting these type of flame wars. I would also suggest to you however, that a response to his comments should have been made through email or within your portfolio, not mine, especially since his outrage seemed more fueled by your comment on his photo than mine. Frankly, I don't really care, and you can leave it up if you wish. But I will give you the same advice I gave him. Very little can be gained through this type of melee. So what's the point?

Hi Thomas, a couple of thoughts came to mind upon viewing: A floor so clean you can eat off of it, or today's breakfast - tomorrow's dump.

As presented, the 60's setting (with a newer toilet) grabs my attention more than the totality. I think a more modern/avant-garde bathroom might better illustrate the concept.

I should not have carried the fight over to your image & for that I am sorry. Seems the moderators have been at it which is a good thing.

LOL! Great idea (and yuk indeed!).

The toilet is fine, Tom, but I find the black bottom of the wall and under the radiator a bit disctracting.

Apart form that, I'm impressed by the DOF - was this done in macro mode? If not, whno the heck did you manage to get everything so sharp?

Regard,

Tom

Thomas, what were you thinking? Where were your manners..... no napkin? How about a toilet paper... cheezy diner...swan....napkin thingy? God you're weird. I like it. You have a food fetish don't you?

But, seriously this is a great image. I particularly like the placement of the toast and the bacon as utnsils.Just great!

Thanks Sally, I do like my food. And you are right, for eggs sunnyside up I do use toast and bacon like edible utensils.

Michael - this floor was actually my inspiration.

Tom - Yea, I wish the radiator weren't there at all. To tell you the truth I'm not sure the lens I put down was actually the lens I used. I have a new wide angle zoom that I haven't added to my lens profile yet. I need to download my shooting record, but I think that was on at the time.

I also forgot to mention that if the toilet were eliminated it would make the title much less fun.
