katie1 0 Posted February 18, 2004 You lucky lucky people, to live with such majestic scenerey. What an absolutely stunning vista. This must have been what Heidi saw as she paused to rest on her way up the mountain to visit Grandpa. What I would't do to see this for myself Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted February 18, 2004 @ Kate - I don't know ... you have some amazingly gorgeous shots from Australia in your portfolio ... some of us Yankees would say that YOU are the lucky one!! @ Colin - I really like this one a lot ... even a bit more so than your other Switzerland shots. Is that a waterfall about halfway back on the cliff on the right? This is gorgeous!! Link to comment
cristina_fumi 0 Posted February 18, 2004 Colin, you made me nostalgic: I have been around there a few years ago (Grindelwald) and it is very nice as much as your picture show. Very good job. Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted February 18, 2004 Amar I was regretting the mist at the time but it does give a nice atmosphere. Kate thanks. As Lou Ann says your Oz photos are great. I'll have to take a longer look at them! Lou Ann I must admit to a bit of self-satisfaction with this photo:-) I'd been hanging out of the train windows and annoying other travellers with the fresh air so I'm glad at least one was worth it! Those are the Staubbach falls. They come right down into the town of Lauterbrunnen. I'll have a look and see if any of my photos of them are up to being posted! Cristina - Yes that whole area is really special. We hope to get back there some time and take more time to enjoy it. Link to comment
photos of hans koot 0 Posted February 18, 2004 Ha ha, great story, indeed worth the trouble, very nice shot and good composition. Link to comment
deozmac 0 Posted February 19, 2004 Colin - wonderful. I like the mood caused by the conditions and your capture of it. Also like the composition you've captured - particularly difficult when on the move, especially the trees in midground mirroring the far cliff in angle. Finally, the lead into the distant misty valley. Link to comment
saikat.pathak 0 Posted February 19, 2004 A beautiful photograph indeed. Wonder how it would have looked with 1 stop ND placed diagonally at the top. Tried by any chance ? Link to comment

colin carron 58,916 Posted February 21, 2004 Phew! well thanks for all your positive comments which came as a very pleasant surprise. They are very much appreciated. There were many poles, posts, wires etc along the railway track and to get a shot that composed itself nicely without these obstructions was a rare event. I didn't have time to think about ND grads and I'm not sure it would have worked here as the misty effect helps the sense of distance. Yodelayee! Link to comment
cindy_armanini 0 Posted August 6, 2004 This picture brings back great memories. Great shot! I have a very similar one taken but with an automatic camera that I had at the time. Link to comment
