Nice photo Chris, however, I think you need more DOF. You are using f2, I think f8 would be more appropriate, perhaps you need a tripd then.

 

It can be suggestive, just depends on how you look at it...

Chris: I've been enjoying all of your pictures - thanks for sharing the great portfolio. I've managed three trips to the Moab / Blanding / Zion area on the way to and from the Canyon and really like how you capture the landscape, especially with the b&w shots.

 

I like the way you address light and textures in this image: the texture of the weathered wood is very evident, even though the DOF choice leaves it out of focus. But this seems to emphasize the harder texturing of the chain. I like also the choice to emphasize the light on the chain with the darkness of the hole, and the way the eye seems to follow the sequence from the light on the chain, to the grey of the weathered wood on the outside of the door, to the blackness from the far side of the door.

 

As for your girlfriend's interpretation, perhaps there's a ball on the end of the chain ... ;-)
