Comments, ratings appreciated on HOLGA shot. This was taken on Tri-

x, then scanned as a color negative for unusual tone. I know the

composition is centered--I'd happy to hear any suggestions. Thanks.

I like the orangish tinting. The centering didn't bother me when I first saw the photo. I think that the contrast may be a bit too much, but that matter of taste. Also I probably wouldn't have vignetted the corners quite so much. But you don't have to take my word for it. I'm not a pro or anything :)

I don't see anything wrong with the composition, it carries a good feeling of drama. But I would have reduced the saturation to make it a bit less orange and more sepia, as shown

Robert, nice treatment and toning on this image - not sure about the dead square centering of the lighthouse, but good work non the less.

Thanks everyone for your comments.

Nate--the vignetting was done in camera. I agree that the contrast probably should be toned down.

James--I was experimenting with tones generated by the scanner, not in PS. I do like your muted version of this better.

Centered looks fine to me. Sometimes the rule of thirds should be broken - not every photo has to be off centered. An off-centered subject is supposed to give visual impact, stress and dynamic interest in a photo. I think for a scene like this, centered is fine because IMHO, it gives a feeling of serenity - exactly what you want in a photo like this. P.S. My brother's light photos were also hit for centered composition - He likes them centered.
