samn 16 Posted February 13, 2004 When I photographed this bird 3 weeks ago I thought that there was no way it could live with such a grievous injury to it's upper beak for there would be no way it could eat. I saw it again yesterday, so it is surviving. It either has a mate that is feeding it or it is living on frogs, etc. I would guess that "if" the beak grows back (which there is a chance of) it would take at least a year. I wish it luck. Guest Guest Posted February 13, 2004 A very dramatic photo, good focus and composition. I'm surprised that the eagle allowed you to get this close considering it's injury. Link to comment
ge_strawn 0 Posted February 13, 2004 Amazing photograph.. BTW: As a Federally protected species no expense would be spared to catch and rehabilitate this bird and return it to the wild. Contact you local Fish & Game Dept. ASPCA or Department Of The Interior and let them know about it... Might even make a good photo series. Link to comment
samn 16 Posted February 13, 2004 I did contact the Dept of Fish & Game, and the ASPCA. They were indifferent about it. Probably for the best anyway seeing that it is surviving on its own. Link to comment
deozmac 0 Posted February 15, 2004 Captures the essence of its survival problem. Hope it survives. Link to comment
