This is a really old shot, so not sure why we're judging it now, but here goes.... It shows what is happening, so for documentary purposes it's useful. The height falls at the right place in the frame, keeping it from being pulled in at the middle. The protestors or civilians are there, yet we're not sure what for. A great shot tells the whole story, this one only tells a small portion of the story.

Gosh, Jennifer, I wasn't aware there was a time factor involved in submitting an image for critiquing. Does a photograph somehow deteriorate in quality or impact as it gets older? And I guess if this is a "really old shot," that makes me a "really old photographer." Hey, some things only get better with age.

You note that "a great shot tells the whole story" but assert that this photo "only tells a small portion of the story." In fact, I took the photograph only to portray the demeanor of the crowd of electronic media people covering a news event. In many of my posted shots, I do provide a description of the political or social context. I chose not to do so here because it was irrelevant. In this case, the cutline, "Film at 11," says it all.

"It shows what is happening, so for documentary purposes it's useful." Thank you.

Photos often age well. This is indeed the right forum, history is important and photography or photojournalism now plays a big part in recording history. Keep posting this stuff Bill! Are you re-printing today or digging out old prints?

This captures the media coherency, and their isolation from the people they're right there covering, splendidly. Comparing expressions in the two groups is fascinating.
