Mist on Willow Creek

LenMarriott

Taken on a recent field trip with fellow Photo.Netter Greg McCracken. Temperature of -20F was responsible for the mist rising off the creek, middle, right. Probably should have waited for a shaft of sunlight to highlight this mist but, then, I might still be there, hand frozen on the cable release, only to be found next spring. Best, LM.

At first glance I thought that it was lens flare. This is truly a strange sight - like an apparition about to appear on a clear day? Great capture.

Len,

This is a real Canadian winter! I love it. I am glad you braved the elements to bring this one back for us to see.

Thanks for commenting on my polar coordinates. FYI: It was not desaturated. The original is not very interesting, so I will not be posting it. Send me email, and I will be glad to attach it in a reply.

Jeff, Brave or stupid! I was having a hard time determining which, that day. With the mind numbing passage of time helping to erase the feeling of freezing face, digits & other parts, I'm more inclined now to accept Brave:) I just assumed since your Polar Coordinates was shot on a digital camera that the original would have been in colour. Guess I have a steeper learning curve than most. Best, LM.

Let's hear how *YOU* would have done things differently to improve

this shot. Self Critisism: I have a polarizing filter that I forgot

to bring with me that day. Kodak Porta VC 160, though not that

saturated, has this incredible ability to retain detail in both

highlights and shadow areas when exposed properly. I've seen this in

other's work as well. Feel free to upload your experiences with it.

Best, LM.
