Framed Orangutan

kslonaker

When I'm bored, I play with my Houston orangutan pictures. This was a combination of layers and filters.

Thanks, Lou Ann. I worked on this for quite a while today and used many different effects to get this the way I wanted it.

Kim, even though I prefer your original 'tired baby' shot I am in awe of the way you've framed the orang utan using the wood.

Thanks for the comments, everyone. This was a lot of work, but I'm pleased with the end result. I can't get enough of this orangutan, so any time I can play with it, I do.

I know the feeling ........ whenever I get bored, I like to walk thru Kim's garden looking for flowers that resemble body parts ............. (-;

Hi Kim:

Love the color combinations, the lighting, the textures and, especially, your subject's expression and position of his/her hands. The only improvement I can suggest is to tweak the transition between the fur and the "frame" across the top. I'm at a loss for exactly what to do, but it seems the monkey should either blend more with the frame, or be more distinct -- perhaps by darkening the edge of the fur?

Anyway, I'll be looking for those erotic flowers too. The one's with the little pink buds, right? --jim

Those are the ones, Jim, the pink buds. Seems the yellow ones just don't cut it! Yes, Ken, you did start something. Maybe you and I need to get together and do something with your blue jeans and my roses?? Could be interesting....

Roger, yes, we were talking about PINK BUDS. Sorry, I'll try and make sure you don't miss anything next time.

Thanks for visiting, Brendan.

I am convinced its using sign, really, she knows you and if not look at the hands does anyone see a camera being held (gesture!)she shows strong signs that she understands that a camera is a looking tool.

Stay at it Kim, who needs contact out there where it can be made right here!

Yes Kim, I do agree with Jim. It seems like the 'orang utan' is in 3D. More depth should be given for the fur on his back or he'll look like he's materialising out of thin air. Your framing is great and perhaps a glint on the eyes will be nice too. Overall a super PS job.

Thanks, Hugh, Alec, and Mark. Alec, I think I'm done with this one and can't even remember what all I did, so I will keep suggestions in mind for a "next time".
