sunapeephoto 0 Posted February 8, 2004 Probably not technically my best effort, but the expression and the snow on the nose spoke to me. Link to comment
MichaelChang 12 Posted February 22, 2004 Hi John, this is a precious photo in so many ways, and for me, particularly the expression on his face. :-) I think some of the technical aspects can be tweaked in software: a little contrast enhancement of the face, rendering the snow to gray scale, and a tad of sharpening. nichols 0 Posted February 25, 2004 Good wide angled perspective. Always works well with dogs. Link to comment
sunapeephoto 0 Posted March 1, 2004 Hi Michael & Chris, Thank you for your comments. Sorry that I took so long to respond. I actually have been shooting some new stuff with my free time instead of playing with the old. Thank you Michael for enhancing the photo. I agree with your changes with the exception of the snow. Snow is a reflective material and will often reflect the sky colors, in this case slightly blue. The improvement to "Max" is noticeable. I am definitely in awe of your skill and eye. Link to comment
MichaelChang 12 Posted March 5, 2004 Hi John, you're of course correct about the snow reflection, and it's something I've been thinking about since seeing this and other photos. In many instances, I tend to have a preference for "Expected" rather than "Actual" colors for reasons yet unknown - perhaps just as sunrise/sunsets, many tend to prefer pumped up satuation with exaggerated colors. Who knows. :-) Link to comment
sunapeephoto 0 Posted March 6, 2004 I understand the desire to change from what is to what is expected, though as I awake from my Winter of forcing myself to snap just a couple of photos and my photograph every sunset monster awakes and reminds me to take what the situation gives you, don't try to make it more. So as my recent photoshop efforts have shown me, the end result will not be satisfactory if the underlying image does not have strength to begin with. Sorry I'm rambling and have lost how this applies to this photograph, but thank you and I do like the improvement to the image of the dog. Michael, thanks for being thought provoking. Link to comment

mgbeach 0 Posted August 31, 2004 I love this one! It's a priceless pet portrait. You may want to just lighten the shadows on the pup's face just a bit. Nicely done. Link to comment
