Chris is a homeless guy who I know in Dublin. I dont see him that

often so I grabbed this chance to get a picture of him. I had my (at

the time brand new) 10D and 50mm f1.8 mkI, with a 1.6x multiplier it

ends up being an 80mm focal length. Literally this picture was

totally unprepared I saw Chris and asked him if I could have a pic of

him he was rushing off somewhere so I didnt even have time to set the

camera modes.

As policy I have the Camera set to AV at all times (except when using

a flash) and would have had the aperture set to 1.8 -I like to shoot

at max aperture!

Editing was done on a 12" powerbook with Photoshop Elements 2, and

would have included these commands: Desaturate, Auto Levels (if the

auto levels is too harsh I will create a duplicate layer and increase

the contrast to about 25-50% and set the layer opacity to 50% and

then merge the layers), I distinctively remember dogding and burning

the eye area. All my training is in sports and news work so I work

fast on the computer doing minimum manipulation. This image is not

cropped.

Intense stare. I thought this was a photo of an athlete. he looks like a football player ready to pounce.
