I shot this image of the devotee waiting for his turn to have ropes

linked to his back with metal hooks which will be used to pull the

deities on a 5km route.

 

For Hindus, Thaipusam, which falls on the full moon day in the Tamil

month of Thai, is a time of offering thanks to the deity Lord

Muragam, who is believe to represent vurtue, youth and power. During

this 24 hours thousands of Indians all across Malaysia and Singapore

participate in this event in designated Temples.

Alec, thanks for the descriptions. What I find most interesting about this particular devotee are his tattoos. He looks like a member of a biker gang. Cool image.
