LenMarriott 9 Posted January 31, 2004 Kim, Beautifully lit rose. If the purpose of posting here is to get others' ideas then I have one for you. I'm always looking for the essence of a photo (infinitely easier to do with someone elses photo than to produce one myself:) so I offer this crop for your consideration. Since you chose to reveal only the bloom & not the stem or leaves that go with it I don't think you went far enough. It's only one opinion but I know I value others views and hope you do too. Let's hear what you think. Stronger now? Or not? Best, LM. Link to comment
MichaelChang 12 Posted January 31, 2004 Brilliant, Len. I think Kim's competent capture is made much stronger with your cropping suggestion. I learned something from your reasoning. Link to comment
abintraphoto 0 Posted January 31, 2004 Is it just me or ........ nevermind. Bad boy Ken bad boy .. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted January 31, 2004 KEN!!!! :) I like your crop, Len, but I also like the top of mine because of the petal formation and the water droplets. I might consider taking more off the bottom, though, and take away the black space showing there and only leave it at the top. What do you all think? Link to comment
MichaelChang 12 Posted February 1, 2004 The pedal with the dippity-dew is maybe just a tad out of focus and in the shadows compared to Len's whoopsy daisy crop, but I can get used to either. :-) Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted February 1, 2004 Have had some cropping suggestions. Would like some more opinions on this. Thanks in advance. Link to comment
bentes_world 0 Posted February 1, 2004 It is hard to make a flower photo being original but I think you succeeded here. The cropping, the colors and the angle makes here. Longing for the time comming when roses are growing here again. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted February 1, 2004 That's one good thing about living in S Texas, we get roses all year! I just took some more rose pictures yesterday downtown and will be "playing" with them soon. Thanks for commenting. Link to comment
or_segal 0 Posted February 1, 2004 you know Kim, your Rose is so sexy & feminine, i love it. thank you. Link to comment
jeff_fiore 0 Posted February 3, 2004 All work fine for me. I guess its a matter of what you are trying to bring out in the photo. Beautiful work no matter what. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted February 3, 2004 Thank you, Jeff. Sometimes there is quite a difference of opinion on how to crop (or not), but it's always interesting to try new ideas that you may not have thought about. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted February 3, 2004 I guess you see what Ken was seeing, Someone Else! :) Link to comment
donnaalbers 0 Posted February 5, 2004 I like the dark tones which give it an earthiness you don't usually see in flower pictures. Link to comment
abintraphoto 0 Posted February 5, 2004 Lol ........... I don't know what you're talking about . Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted February 5, 2004 Sure, Ken...I believe you (but thousands wouldn't!). Thanks for visiting, Donna. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted February 8, 2004 Hey, Ken - I'll send you the rose - I dried it. You seem to have a peculiar attachment to this image. :) Link to comment
thomas_collins1 0 Posted February 13, 2004 Kim, apparently this image has made quite the impression with Ken and Roger as they sent me the link. Geez, I wonder why?? ;-) LOL... As for the image, it's quite lovely - really. Dang those guys! Now I can't look at it without a grin on my face! Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted February 13, 2004 Thomas, glad you liked the image. I'm getting a little concerned about those two! Maybe they will get a rose for Valentine's Day and it will make their day! Link to comment
