Thank you for the comments. Both this and The Kiss were self portraits of my wife and myself, so exact placement was a little tough since I couldn't line us both up through the lens. This was also my first real practice with a seperate light meter and night photography. I was really sweating it out as to whether these would turn out. They are basically our only "souvenirs" from the trip. To me they are better than any "knick-knacks" we may have picked up.

A very evocative image - superb.

Vincent - not only patience, but perseverence. I saw this shot earlier in the vacation, and our last night we lugged my gear all over the city enroute to this location. Quite a bit of walking. But as a scenic photographer, I'm sure you do a lot of the same.

That's really a wonderful moment you captured. I like the composition and the mood a lot. The only thing that could be improved in my eyes is the range of grey tones. Especially on the left the picture looks a bit "washed out". Since I do not have that much time at the moment, I only briefly worked on the picture to show you what I mean. Sorry for removing the frame but it made the picture easier to handle. I like it at your version. Hope this helps you.

Classic looking shot. The exposure is just right. I would have liked to have seen all of their shadows, but realize that wasn't possible without cropping of the front lamp post. Nice work.

Robert, I agree that the full shadows would be nice, and I probably could have retained the lamp if I popped on a wider lens, but then the subjects would have become a less significant component of the image. Thanks for your comments.

Beautiful picture and very well done!

While both this and The Kiss are both strong, I prefer the composition here. The way Mr is leaning and the shadows draw the eye in. The background works well all around. The piles of snow on left and right add to the framing. All excellent.

 

My only nit pick is with the tones and, like Anthony, I reworked it a bit, knowing you won't mind. Did this on the weekend, before I saw his, but here it is anyway.
