High School Students Posing for Class Picture

Image manipulated with Paint Shop Pro. The faces come from two separate images taken several seconds apart. The pictures were taken when I was in High School, circa 1963. The fellows in the back are, in their expressions, registering their impatience because of the amount of time I was making them stand there so that I could complete the photo assignment to my satisfaction.

My hope is that this image is more than just a "snapshot", i.e. a

picture of interest only to the people who were photographed as a

record of an event in their personal lives. The image, I hope,

successfully portrays something of the differences in social behavior

and attitudes related to gender, at least as seemed to be prevalent

among students in a small town 40 years ago.
