alberto.conde 0 Posted January 22, 2004 This is not a landscape but a portrait of a fellow photo.netter specialized in capturing his region's memories, nature, customs, people and vistas. I wanted to have him immersed in his activities (spotmetering the light) and surrounded by the splendour of that far corner of Spain. Did I achieve it? Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted January 22, 2004 Great photo, Alberto! And getting Angel into it deserves another point for originality. Looking at this gives a very vivid sense of what it would be like to be there. Link to comment

mauricio alcaraz carbia 0 Posted January 22, 2004 Agree with Luis: In my opinion, this is the best one of the series, because of it´s composition, colors and sense of the geographic site. A must, for the outdoor photographer. Very good Alberto! Link to comment
nher 0 Posted January 22, 2004 Albert, THANK YOU VERY MUCH INDEED for this shot. For me it is a great honour which I do not deserve but unforgotable at the same time. Now the NEWS: If anyone from PhotoNet decides to organize a photographic trip to Sierra de Gata I would be delighted to serve you as a guide. Spring is round the corner .... Link to comment

thomas_turk 0 Posted January 25, 2004 Very natural..except for the sky is bad/wrong..(those damn yankees chemtrailing over Spain again). Natural alto cumulus like the Castle in Scotland shot would have made it extra-ordinary..The sky is in the pix, therefore it IS part of the composition and it must be addressed. Link to comment
alberto.conde 0 Posted January 26, 2004 Well, Thomas, you may have a point in there. The trails of the passiing jets could (I stress, COULD) be a problem, except for two things:1-Gata is in the usual path north of all plains flying out of Lisbon's airport northeastwards: i.e. all European destinations with the exception of London. Consequently, those trails are a natural part of Gata's scenery.2-Should we remove every trace of human modifications of the natural space? For instance, should I clone out all traces of the village of Cadalso that can be seen on the plain below? Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted January 27, 2004 Do you mean chemtrails, as in a secret US conspiracy to gas everyone, or contrails as in what typically follows a passenger jet??? There is something I find peacefully uplifting about this photo - like it's reminding me what photography is all about - getting out there and enjoying it! The fact that there are contrails in the frame helps this, I think, as to me it shows a photographic environment. I like the way they (the contrails) converge to the left with the landscape also.
