jeff henry 0 Posted January 20, 2004 good work, I would have cropped just above the knee though. Link to comment
jeff d 1 Posted January 20, 2004 The light and shadows work well. The natural pose is very effective. I would not have cropped as suggested. This works just fine as is. Please stop by and take a look at my latest work. Thanks! Link to comment
elliott_shannonhouse 0 Posted January 20, 2004 great tonal quality in the skin. There is some really nice negative space on the right but I think it escapes out the top of the picture. The funny thing about nudes is that if you crop out the face its about form and beauty in the abstract, but if you leave the face in it begs the question of portraiture and what the subject is doing in the picture. Lots of sculptors solved the problem by leaving off the head entirely (lots of the older ones, the head just fell off!) In this case I would follow the shaoe of the black space, and contain it at the top and bottom of the photo by cropping of part or most of the head, and at the bottom per the first suggestion. Look at the negative space between her backside and arm, and the shadow around the other side of the arm. Beautiful. I just think in this case it would make the impact of the image stronger. I hope you find these comments useful. Link to comment
mnigro 0 Posted January 22, 2004 nice image but try to flip it horizontally so it follows the visual grid-lower left to upper right. Link to comment
