carol_watson 0 Posted January 19, 2004 This was a special moment for me. New Year's Day, in the evening, second hike of the day at Big Bend National Park, Texas. Despite being fairly tired, we climbed up to this vista with a bottle of champagne in the backpack and toasted the New Year looking out at this view at Balanced Rock in the Grapevine Hills. This rock is perched about two stories high. It's quite an impressive natural structure. After drinking the bottle of champagne, the hike down was quite enjoyable. Comments appreciated! WJT 619 Posted January 20, 2004 I am surprised that it is not getting more comments/ratings. It has, for me, a very surreal, dreamlike quality. The exposure is very nice, especially capturing the red sky glow in the upper right. I am making it a note to drink more champagne (properly chilled, of course) when I am out with my camera! Regards. chris_conrad 0 Posted January 22, 2004 The thumbnail really caught my eye. I love the composition: it is a very striking and precarious pose here.... The colors are interesting in their muted state, but I can't help wondering what they'd look like with the the last rays glowing on them? Nice work, regardless. cc Link to comment

zoe_doubas 0 Posted November 14, 2007 As soon as I saw this formation, i thought it looked like a man perching his head on his hand in a contemplative pose, maybe looking out to the sunset. You have a beautiful folio. Link to comment
