Homeless Man and Marilyn Monroe Keeping Warm on a Steam Vent in Washington, DC

billangel

Manipulated composite image created with Paintshop Pro.The image of Marilyn Monroe is derived from picture that I took of a promotional statue of her that sat outside of the "Graffiti Audio Video" Store in Washington, DC. As movie buffs would know, that statue was in fact derived from some famous publicity photos of her posing with her skirt billowing as she stood over an air vent.

It is my opinion that if one is familiar with the tragic life of

Marilyn Monroe and of course that of many homeless people, then this

apparently incongruous juxtaposition of iconic images would not be

considered either to be in bad taste or insensitive to the

misfortunes of society's "Misfits".

He's no longer up in DC, he's down in Fredericksburg about fifty miles south of DC. Kind of odd in my opinion to go with Marilyn Monroe on the vent, but it does make for interest.

Sharp eye Jennifer. You seem to really know all the homeless in your area. I admire your perseverance and photos of homeless. Truly dedicated.
