jannis 0 Posted January 18, 2004 I worked a little bit more on this idea. I shall be pleased to read any comments on this pic. Link to comment
nrb 0 Posted January 18, 2004 This picture portrays the answer to one of my lifelong inquests, the putative positioning of modern greeks in Eastern Mediterranean. Link to comment
gabrielma 0 Posted January 18, 2004 To be absolutely honest, I thought my monitor had a big stain, then I scrolled down and the stain moved along. A few seconds later it was evident it was a "fade-in" of a man (sailor?). This was my initial impression...but now I can see what's going on in this picture...I'm not sure this works, at least not with the face taking half of the space; perhaps smaller. Link to comment
ying lin 0 Posted January 19, 2004 I like the whole thing except the hat, more like in the army. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted January 20, 2004 Yannis, this is not only very well conceived, but beautifully done. Tonality, expression, composition... it has it all. Yassou! - Gary Link to comment
christos 0 Posted February 27, 2004 Yanni, this works better than the colour one with the eyebrows.. but I'm still feeling that the idea is too ambitious... Although, it gains in the abstract sense of originality, I think it forces its subject-matter to the viewer in such way that restricts imagination and aesthetic satisfaction. In other words, commenting overall on a practice that I noticed you have attempted few times, the debate is whether the connection betwen the two pictures is too simplistic and their co-existence becomes rather a burden to the viewer. Ultimately, it is questioned if it is all that necessary. Link to comment
rachael jane 0 Posted April 6, 2004 It made me think of Hemmingway's "The Old Man at the Sea". Very nice. Link to comment
