What you say ?

No geographic frontiers beetwen the North andSouth but many centuries are breaking up them. If the North is a travel back to the Middle Age, to visit the South is to take a walk to the paleolithic time. No asphalted roads or hotels, many hours jumping in a 4WD to visit some different primitive tribe settlements.

Strong personality describes this teenager. She followed me parodying

my words and faces....... and she became my first choice to shot.

This is a very good subject but the environment is not too clean to make her outstanding. Her facial expresssion is not too forthcoming. From your description, she appears to be a willing subject, i would try invite her to a cleaner location. Both her headdress and colourful beads are great potential for an outstanding environmental portrait. Good try anyway !

Yo no sabría decir si la chica está contenta o no, pero lo que si puedo decir sin temor a equivocarme es que es un retrato espléndido. Felicidades.

interesting expression but what is the story? is this supposed to be a journalistic shot? it looks like it could have been taken on holiday in a game park in africa.

no, dont invite her to a cleaner location - that is total crap and typical of this 'perfect image' media culture we live in - let her be natural as possible ... the woman in the background is a great addition to the image. 'good try anyway' - alan, try not to be so patronising.

i like the look on her face, though her breasts see more in focus than her face and seem to poke out from the picture right into my eye.

Excellent view to explain that both native and islamic people don't like to get robbed of their sight... You were lucky because you are not a man ;-)

But on another hand, I just want to notice the bracelet on her front head. This means any "toy" coming from abroad is turned to decoration by those people.

This is an ethnic shot, before scientific...

Thanks, Marina.

So is the expression you always wear when you photograph people?! Or only a parody?

Excellent shot in any case, truly.

"Youve GOT to be kidding !" she said, after you just told her how much NBA players make in the USA for playing with bouncing balls.

Marina, this is a captivating portrait of a beautiful woman. She does look serious but certainly not menacing. It is just a bit unsharp but more soft than blurred so not a problem for me. The woman in the background adds dimension and environmental detail. The suggestion to take her to a cleaner environment is nonsense - THIS is her environment. The comment on the jewellery is interesting as I see now she is wearing a piece of watchband on her forehead. It's certainly not as pretty as the rest of the beadwork. It's an irony really. The conditions may be primitive as you say but these people look happy and healthy compared to the overstressed, overweight and overpaid in the west. I enjoy your photographs and hope there are many more to come.

the suffering of the south is because of the north, now instead of being ashamed, you go and tell the world of your crimes with this photo!

Hello Marina, Nice portrait. I think if you'd chosen another background, one with less overexposed sky and less busy, you would have made a 7/7 pic. Anyway a very nice shot. Best Geert.

The image features someone whose appearance is uncommon to most of us and who has a somewhat intense look.

If this had been someone with western clothing and everything else was exactly the same, wouldn't everyone point out the distracting tree trunk and limb coming out of her ear? Would this image be at the top of the list?

You should make some intensive street shooting in Europe or USA for several weeks this may change your opinion.
