bentes_world 0 Posted January 16, 2004 So you have gone into gull buisness too, Regina. (-; ...What a pretty good photo of a young gull ( I only know it is young because someone told me lately that it is the young gulls that looks this way) So fine colors you have chosen ... and pretty sharp too. LenMarriott 9 Posted January 17, 2004 Regina, Super bird portrait. Sharp & well exposed with enough depth of field to cover the essentials & a soft, low ratio, light source to reveal all the fine feather details in both highlight and shadow areas. The bonus, though, is the catchlight in the eye. (Gives the bird the look of life) Should have, in my opinion, as much or more space in front of the bird as exists behind it. In any case a worthy result for all your efforts. Best, LM. Link to comment
connealy 0 Posted January 17, 2004 I may have to revise my opinion of gulls based on this fine portrait. I have always tended to look on them as thieves and trouble makers, but this one is very charming. I think you and Hannah Cowpe should mount a show together; this one is the perfect complement to a shot of a pier she just put up. Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 64 Posted January 18, 2004 Great gull shot. I think I'll have to try this, since they are such approachable creatures and seem to live everywhere there is a bit of water nearby. I like the tone in particular, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that the focus is crisp, since it does not appear particularly crisp in the thumbnail. Link to comment
