Dashanes Boy

curra

No geographic frontiers beetwen the North andSouth but many centuries are breaking up them. If the North is a travel back to the Middle Age, to visit the South is to take a walk to the paleolithic time. No asphalted roads or hotels, many hours jumping in a 4WD to visit some different primitive tribe settlements.

Gracias.

Marina, no doubt this shot is a great one. I agree with all of the above comments: you just can´t help looking at his eyes, and including the boy on the background is simply excellent. As I usually "mess around" with your shots, I am uploading a BW version, and also slightly cropped on the top (to make it more drastic and to strengthen his eyes.

I dont know what kind of comment do you want, but first of all I want to write you that it is a very touching photo. The biggest compliment that I do is that the photo does not let me indifferent, that moves me; this one and some other from you haunts me, dont let me in peace, I can not see it without experimenting that it is real, therefore beautiful in a very deep way. Perhaps it is not pretty what I see, but shows reality therefore beauty. In this case I see humanity twice, childrens and yours. Another mood in the other photo in this folder, but the same deep beauty, the same humanity, that I perceive again twice. A lot can be said on this quality of your photos, sometimes I would like to sit with you to tell how deep you go in your images, but now only one thing: Undoubtely it is difficult to be indifferent to the subjects of your photos, but I dont think that they are so impresive only because of them, not every photographer could get a touching photo from this persons (children or adults), you have to empathize with them and I think that this is your secret, this is what makes your photos great.

The emotions that many of your photos awake dont hinder me to be critical and rational as well. I dont see technical shortcomings here or in the other photo, perhaps I see that you have material to explore and develop other possibilities, Charo ant Luis made you very interesting proposals, I like best the one that made Luis, not so much the cropping but the contrast, I think that the message is clearer and more dramatic in Luis version. But that is only my opinion. Anyhow I want to say that the B&W version does not exclude he color one.

Marina, you have really done justice to your images with this one... my goodness, I felt a stab in my heart seeing the eyes of these children. You have magic coming out of your camera. Your images invoke feelings, you move people with your images. It takes a special person to do this... surely your heart is in your photography. I salute you! You MUST continue to with your photography. Someday I hope to buy your book....

I personally prefer Luis Argüelles' cropping. He's right about the background boy being sort of glued to the border.

As for the emotions conveyed here they are very intense. A photo that makes one think and ponder about basics beliefs of ours. So many things taken for granted and then... These images!

Stunning and elegant; one of those images that makes me think "wish I had shot this.." Where is Dashanes Bay?
