gudermane 0 Posted January 12, 2004 Both of us, Half girl and Half dream, think that this is quite nice :) Link to comment
robert goldstein 0 Posted January 14, 2004 I like it, but would crop more tightly on the right. This image is certainly reminiscent of HCB, which is high praise to a Leicaphile. Link to comment
cliff_bryce 0 Posted January 14, 2004 I agree with Mr. Goldstein. that is what caught my eye, the HCB effect that is. very nice- the car headlights on the right are a bit distracting though. Link to comment
beau 1664876222 1 Posted January 14, 2004 I hear what you guys are saying about the headlights, but if I cropped them out, I would lose the wedge formation of the people venturing into the street. It would just look like a shapeless crowd. It was the way they were lined up that caught my eye. Link to comment
ray . 58 Posted January 27, 2004 The headlights are a good thing, they add contrast to the shot and fit in fine. Nice photo. Link to comment
august_anderson 0 Posted February 1, 2004 Hi, I would love to know how you took this, and all your other shots. As in, F-stop, shutter speed, etc. Do you remember. Leica's are amazing. And you are also shooting in my neighborhood. Link to comment
beau 1664876222 1 Posted February 1, 2004 August, Thanks for stopping by. I can't think of anything unusual that I do; I don't have any tricks, at least not consciously. I guess I do make choices in terms of exposing and printing -- a lot of times this means exposing a little more and then printing dark while dodging the darkest spots. More than anything the look of my pictures has to do with the kind of stuff I look for on the street -- this scene appeared pretty much exacly like you see it here -- there wasn't even any color to speak of. franksturm 0 Posted February 11, 2004 Add more contrast to the scene and it will be a better picture. Regards Frank Link to comment
straydog 0 Posted May 8, 2005 I don't understand the comments. HCB would not crop this! Beau's work is among the most original and interesting on this site. Link to comment
