terry_brown2 0 Posted January 10, 2004 I know how to train birds to come to the hand (be very patient or use a "manequin" and then take its place), but I'm curious is that your hand, or someone elses? And if yours, how did you take the shot? Great shot, anyway. Link to comment
1000wordsphotography 0 Posted January 10, 2004 I have been stuggling to get good close bird photos.... this one is great. Did you use the method mentioned above to train the bird to hand feed? Link to comment
WJT 627 Posted January 11, 2004 Very different from your previous work, but just as enjoyable to see. Regards. Link to comment
gaetanchevalier 5 Posted January 11, 2004 Terry and Regina, This is not my hand this is my wife's hand so I was able to wait for the bird coming in and take the picture. Quite difficult to have a sharp image because of the low light condition near winter solstice, the bird is very quick, lag time (this is a 'point and shoot digital camera') and my hand was beginning to freeze. The temperature here is very cold during winter time. We have snow that stay on the ground between december and april (we always have white christmas)! This is a 'forest' bird and we had never seen that bird before. The name of this bird is 'Black-crapped Chickkadee' (Parus atricapillus Linnaeus) (in french : Mésange à tête noir). I think that bird is quite easy to train to come to the hand. During the time I was shooting, there was other people that was able to have other birds coming on their hands. You have to be a little patient, calm and wait. This bird will come eating on your hand. Link to comment
devilsadvocate1979 0 Posted January 11, 2004 nice capture...what I'm concerning about is what happened next to the bird??? :P Link to comment
john falkenstine 1 Posted January 12, 2004 I find this a far better picture than what I saw earlier this year. "Bird photographers" had constructed an artificial scenario, hidden food in it and were taking photographs of "birds in the wild" Link to comment
col278 0 Posted January 12, 2004 Alternative Caption should read " Can't possibly eat all that" Link to comment
