Cypress Lake

ronnie gaubert

This is a pre-sunrise shot at Lake Martin, Louisiana. Exposure was 4seconds @ f/36. It was windy so I used a long exposure to flatten out the water. Image Date: 1-2-04 @ 7:13am.White Balance was set to Auto-1 and a .6 ND filter was used to balance the image.

Another low light exposure at Lake Martin, Louisiana. The long

exposure helped to flatten out the small waves that were present.

Comments Welcomed.

I know why I like it... the oriental ink brush, zen like simplicity. Lovely image! There is just a wee bit more space on the left than might be optimum. The ice reflection is very nice as is the general tonal values throughout.

Very good use of the rule of thirds, which gives the image ballance. The exposure gives a sense of calm and tranquillity.

Another simple and very effective composition! The line of grass on the right leading to the trees works well. I really like this one.

like Minnesota in the winter - a good ice on the lake w/ a snowstorm coming = course the leaves wouldn't be there ... very nice shot - thanks for the post

Lake Martin is just a few miles Southeast of Lafayette, La. It's about 5 miles on the south side of I-10 at the Breaux Bridge exit. Great place to visit in April, May and June. About 40,000 wading birds nest their each year.

This is beautiful. I wonder if it might be a bit better with a little less foreground.
