rp3o 0 Posted January 6, 2004 I've gone back and forth on the use of color filters for landscapes...any comments on this? Link to comment
suman 0 Posted January 6, 2004 Rajesh This could be a little better if you take the photo a little later....the sun will be more soothing in that case. Link to comment
derek_d1 0 Posted January 6, 2004 I have a red graduated filter, that I've only used a couple of times. Sometimes I think colored filters can add to a shot, but to me it seems like often they are too obvious and distract somewhat. This is a very nice scene. Personally, I think I would prefer it without the colored filter. Maybe with a graduated ND filter to bring out some details in the sky, but the colored filter looks a bit too strong to me. stp 6 Posted January 6, 2004 There is such potential in this scene for natural beauty without the artificiality of filters that I'd prefer real colors. I agree with above comments that this will best be captured when the sun is lower and perhaps with a graduated ND filter to balance the sky with the waves. Link to comment
elwood 0 Posted January 7, 2004 I agree with Derek. The filter is obvious. A graduated gray would have been the better choice in my humble opinion. The "sun part" and the reflections in the sea seem overexposed. I like the composition very much except the left bottom corner. Link to comment
s m 0 Posted January 9, 2004 Rajesh: I was at the same place last Feb, hv a few similar pics without the colored filter. http://www.photo.net/photodb/folder?folder_id=237994 Did you take any pics of the two apostles on the other side?, I would be curious to see how they came out. Mine won me a few awards Cheers! Link to comment
myrjola 0 Posted February 5, 2004 Whoa, filter or not, definitely eye-catching. The only major gripe I have with this is the relatively large overexposed area. Link to comment
