Well, I like the composition...in my eye simplicity works. I'm just not a fan of the digital enhancement stuff. But, to each his/her own. I think you did well with it.

I like it. I have tried a few of these, but it was never snowing hard enough to be noticable. Some people don't like frames around their photos, but I think this one might benefit from a simple black border, but that is up to you of course.

+Remember, it has been altered to look like a charcoal drawing. No camera was shaking. This is what a drawing looks like.

I do agree that the effects might be a tad overdone. I was not sure where a good cutoff point would be. After trying several alterations, I stopped with this one. Thank you for all of your comments. I know some don't like digitally altered photo's. For me, it's all about learning.

See original above.

I found this one a little hard to look at - my eyes keep wanting to try and focus and make it sharper. It looks like it started off being a nice enough composition and I think maybe you could try some other effects that might work better.

Thank you, John, for the 1/1 rating you gave this photo. I take it you reeeeeally hate altered photo's. But, the question is: does this really warrant the lowest rating possible. Even on creativity?

I appreciate your sound opinion either way. I too have not always appreciated a photo here and there myself. :)

You're right about it bothering the eyes. Mine have become use to it now. Takes about an hour of staring at it. ;) I have a second version that is not as hard on the eyes.

I think John wanted to make his opinion very clear for me.

HE HATES MY PHOTO!

I feel like a big poop head now!

LOL :) :) :) :)

I think what you have done is take an average photo and turned it into somthing with some charecter, personally i dont like the snow effect, but, its not my photo

good effort, I love looking to see whats new in your portfolio

Okay, your original shot just didn't have "snap" so I can see why you are playing with it. I like doing that myself. I like the lighter version you show - it's not so hard for me to look at, although it IS a smaller post, so that could be why. I think this image is definitely worth expermienting with some more.

Not to worry, Jason. I never take criticism the wrong way. I like and appreciate the honesty. But, that doesn't mean I'm not going to play with folks who really don't care for my creative experiments. It's all about fun, for me. I love doing this stuff. You have to admit, some folks enjoy being mean as much as others love to play.

Thanks for your comment and for keeping in touch. I love to hear from fellow PN'ers! :)

I knew you'd see why I felt I had to play with this a little. I'm still trying to master PS so it may take me a while to get the effects I need from any given photo. Especially the ones that really need some boosting.

Thanks, Kim!

Hi TC, I know the feeling of staring at an image for hours. :-) Here's a version with Curves aggressively bumped up and converted to BW.

Yes, Michael did it! That works well, I think! Re: John's 1/1 rating - if you check out his work, well, I think he DOES have something against creativity.
