billangel 9,671 Posted January 1, 2004 I find this image intriguing because the scene can be perceived in two different ways. The viewer is either looking UP through the trees at an arrangement of sticks floating in the sky, or else the viewer is looking DOWN into the water at several sticks and their reflections. In the second case, the treeline along the edges of the image is the reflection of branches in the water. The second interpretation is the correct one scientifically, but the first interpretation seems to work just as well "in the mind's eye". Link to comment
jennifercatron 9 Posted January 1, 2004 First of all you can't tell that they're sticks. It looks like someone put a foreign alphabet on the top right corner, like a code. There isn't enough ripple to see any different. Second is that the fog is so heavy that you lose any perspective, which you may have been referring to as neat, but you lose the viewer as well. hugh_hill 0 Posted April 25, 2004 I love this image Bill, to me it has to be one of my favourites in your folder. The trees here seem to nest the sticks placing a sort of special emphasis upon them making it appear as though they are some kind of complex abstract put there for a purpose. Regards Link to comment
