ivan colman 0 Posted December 23, 2003 I do not know too much about "Holga". But it appears a "difficult" camera, where photographic skills are required to use it. I like the mood in this photo. Very well supported by the toning. Link to comment
rob m 0 Posted December 23, 2003 Looks like an image from the Ring - on the one hand pleasant and peacful, on the other dark a forbiding, full of malice - depends on your mood I suppose. Enjoyed looking at this one, thanks Link to comment
stephen hazelton 3 Posted December 23, 2003 The toning works well with the shot- has an ageless look. Link to comment
tc_reed 0 Posted December 25, 2003 The Ring was my thought as well. How cool this effect is. Definately dark and forboding too. I like it. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted December 26, 2003 I must be in an odd mood. looks inviting. Wrap up in some warm clothes and just sit and relax there until someone made me leave. Knicki Link to comment
rjacksonphoto 0 Posted January 4, 2004 Effective mood. The Holga contributes to the mystery of the shot (the softness and the vignetting). In a composition like this, I think a Holga adds implied motion to an otherwise static subject. Maybe it is the sense of transience, as if you are only catching a glimpse of the subject. dibaphoto 0 Posted October 4, 2004 great holga shot, I really like the dark shadows, i know it is difficult to perfectly compose though the holgas plastic hole, but i would have taken a few steps to the right. Link to comment
robertbrown 1 Posted October 5, 2004 Bobby, thanks for your comment. This is a funky, big old dock--it's probably 12 feet wide and made out of very heavy boards. It also slopes, which caused some problems (or added visual interest) with the horizon. When I shot this I was trying to get it a little off center, but now I agree with you . . . I should have shot it straight on. Link to comment
