tc_reed 0 Posted December 14, 2003 This tree has been calling to me for two years. What do you think? Link to comment
california-seascapes-photo 0 Posted December 15, 2003 Your photography has improved much since I've been here last, Very nice work! Link to comment
jeff d 1 Posted December 15, 2003 Keep looking at the this tree, as it is still calling you. It is saying, "I need a nicer background. Try to capture me at dusk or before dawn. I bet the sky is going to look great, and it will highlight all of my glory." Now listen to your tree. Camp out in front of it for 24 hours and get a number of differently lit versions. She is a real beauty, and worth the time. Don't freeze your ceister* in the process. *Yiddush for tush, pronounced key'-ster. Also known as bum in the British vernacular. Link to comment
tc_reed 0 Posted December 15, 2003 My bum didn't freeze but the thorns I overlooked along the way sure tore into my levi's. Ouch! Did I mention I got my shoes muddy? I thought about falling in the process but that would have been over dramatic; don't you think? :) I am planning a sunset hike back to my tree. Hopefully, the skies will work with me on my return. tc_reed 0 Posted December 15, 2003 Jeff, the tree is some kind of Oak. Though I'm not sure what. I'm not so familiar with my Pacific Northwest trees yet. The varieties are different than what we have back home in the East. We'll just call it a hardwood for now. :) Link to comment
greg s 4 Posted December 16, 2003 Hi TC! I really like the tonality and texture of your tree composition... very nice! BTW, if this is an oak (and it probably is), then it would be an Oregon White Oak. Also, if you haven't discovered Tualatin Hills Nature Park yet here in the Hillsboro area, check it out. :) Link to comment
tc_reed 0 Posted December 17, 2003 Thank you Robert for the idea. I was thinking along similar lines. I love this tree and the sky is always different throughout the year. Link to comment
tc_reed 0 Posted December 17, 2003 Thank you again, Greg, for taking the time to view and comment on one of my photo's. Also, thanks for telling me which oak family this is. I will look up the Tualatin Hills Nature Park. I've not visited there yet. Thanks! Link to comment
tc_reed 0 Posted December 23, 2003 Thanks for taking the time to view my photo and comment. I parused your portfolio out of curiosity and I am even more pleased that you took the time. Obviously you are a well skilled photographer yourself. Your portfolio is great. Again, thank you. Link to comment
rob m 0 Posted December 26, 2003 Very nice. I like the way it appears to be burnt on. Agreed the sky could be different, but I think this one has a fair amount of impact and pleases the eye too. Link to comment
tc_reed 0 Posted December 30, 2003 Thank you for your comment, Rob. I quite like the sky in this myself. I can't wait to get out on different days to get different backgrounds. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted January 2, 2004 I really like the simplicity of this composition. The soft, muted colors and tones make this very pleasing. Link to comment
