Another best yet? Simple and effective. I like the non-cluttered background in this one which really shows off the features of the jay. Have you seen "Birds as Art"?

Bryan, what is "Birds as Art?" I haven't heard of that. I have to try printing a couple of these out and see how they do. I usually crop in 8x10 size anyway and they look fine on the screen.

This was taken in 40 degree weather and I was out in my nightgown

and slippers! Had about 8 greenjays in the yard, but they are

elusive birds and it requires a LOT of patience to get the image.

This composition is very simple, no background. Does that work for

you?

Too much empty space, althougth it does work well with the bird quite dynamic, so he looks like he is going to burst into the rest of the frame.
