robertbrown 1 Posted December 14, 2003 Comments, ratings appreciated on this toned, Holga shot. This was taken with a plastic (including plastic lens) Holga 120 camera. The negative was scanned, then I toned the image and did a little dodging and burning. However, this is fairly close to what the original negative would have printed. Toning was meant to make this look like an older photograph--perhaps from the early 20th century. Link to comment
william_cobb 0 Posted December 14, 2003 Nice effect. I like it. You don't always need a good camera, do you! Link to comment
fya 0 Posted December 14, 2003 Excellent job, it does look like an early photo excepting the slight colouring visble in the grass and path area at the bottom - which further enhances the image. Only quibble I have is the frame does not suit the image perfectly. Link to comment
bob_pictaker 1 Posted December 14, 2003 Really nice Bob! You've got me eyeballing MY Holga again. The tones are beautiful, and your decision to use the Holga with this subject was a good one. Faustus makes a good point about the frame, a shot like this may be at its best with no frame at all! Link to comment
sun_dance 0 Posted December 15, 2003 How refreshing to see such a nice departure from high-tech gadgetry. Link to comment

robertbrown 1 Posted December 16, 2003 Thanks everyone for the comments and ratings. I was really happy with how this one turned out. Every shot with a Holga is an adventure--you can't tell for sure what you're going to get. Knicki, I appreciate your kind words. Man, you're right about the frame. I'm trying something less pretentious on future Holga shots. Bob, when you're not working too hard in the studio, I hope you go out and play with your Holga--they are fun cameras. So far, I've only shot two rolls, but plan to keep in the camera bag for a while. Link to comment
