Living on the edge

I like the contrast between the sky and the foliage, I only wish I could see more of the sky.

Thanks for your suggestion Jon. However if I show more sky then it will mean cropping some of the foliage and river stream which I felt was more important to the image. Rotoura is an active volcanic area and gaseous steam from the ground is a common sight.

I like the details in the old house and trees in the left foreground.

 

PS: Hope to be in NZ in early 2005.

Beautiful colour and detail here. Love the smoke. Could be criticized as a little messy. I like it though. Well done.

Thanks for all your kind comments. The smoke is unretouch as it is steam coming out from the ground.

This picture is taken in the Maorie village of Rotoura, New Zealand,

famous for it's natural thermal underground activity. The steam

coming out of the ground creates a constant mist high in humidity

and the natural cool air aids the pre-historic fauna here to

florish.

The documentary realism of this image is extraordinary. It provokes thought...
