donpaulson 0 Posted December 2, 2003 Your thoughts or suggestions appreciated. It was the sensual curves in the snow that first caught my eye, but the small tree, looking as though it were pushing up through the snow, seemed to be fighting off the cold (or maybe just having a look around)... donpaulson 0 Posted December 2, 2003 Why, thank you! I think that simple compositions can sometimes say the most... Link to comment
sunapeephoto 0 Posted December 2, 2003 Good job on exposure. Not easy to get snow right. Link to comment
niranjn 0 Posted December 2, 2003 Nicely done! The "dunes" are great looking. The darkness of the green fits perfectly with the other tones to give a subdued feel. Nice lighting and exposure. (1) Did you have an alternate wider angled take that includes more of those dunes? (2) Do you have a shot with the plant set inside a wee bit more, with atleast one mound in front of it in the foreground? This will give me, the viewer, the feeling that the mounds continue for ever in the foreground direction as well. But that's a different picture. Link to comment
donpaulson 0 Posted December 2, 2003 Niranjan, Thanks for your comment. I normally take several different compositions of a scene that I like, but in this case I only have just the one telephoto shot. If I remember correctly, I had to "zoom in" in order to eliminate some unsightly stuff. By the way, I enjoyed your portfolio - nice. Link to comment
danielkekesi1 0 Posted December 3, 2003 This photo is surely underrated. Excellent exposure, funny title, and the snowbumps all make a wonderful shot. Daniel Link to comment
alethea_hollis 0 Posted December 4, 2003 I love this, it works beautifully, you must be proud of it and justifiably so, great composition, fantastic tones, and humour too, just simply wonderful. Alethea Link to comment
dkatz02 0 Posted December 5, 2003 Are these moguls? I like the tree, and its placement in the frame with the curves. Without the tree it would be a little to abstract for my taste Link to comment
stp 6 Posted December 12, 2003 Wonderful image, very good placement of the tree. The only thing I would suggest you do next time is to wait for a chickadee to come along and perch on the tip of the tree (but first leave a note telling the authorities where to start looking for you). Link to comment
flynn 4 Posted November 19, 2004 Your portfolio is best I ever seen. I do landscapes to In British Columbia, but I can't measure with you. Your pictures are alive! Even without havy postprocessing as most do. Link to comment
