Very pretty and tonal range is gorgeous. I find the framing too distracting for computer viewing. I too did this for a while and got the same opinion from others. I disagreed at first, but after a while I have come to prefer a framing that draws less attention.

I would have liked some detail in the foreground and a chance to see a red filter on that sky. Some detail lost in the roof is cool but the effect could have been pushed throughout. Nice shot!

Love the sepia tone, fits the theme of the picture. The only negative I see is that the barn has a spoky illumination at its center while the edges fall off to darkness. Probably a flash effect, if not I apologize for that assumption.

It's a good picture well presented, personally I might have been a little gentler with the sepia toning, but unlike John I think the frame suits it.

Overall, I like the tone and hue, or sepia if you like. It works particularly well on the barn and grass, emphasizing their condition. The barn has some fine detail and really gives the feeling of fragility, even though it's probably been standing like that for some time. The lack of detail in the foreground doesn't bother me as it focuses more on the barn. Can I ask how far away you were?

Thanks everyone for all of the comments on this photo!

John: the framing may be overkill. This is how they get framed and hung, and it may be too much for the web. I, however, like it.

Nathan, no fill flash. Natural lighting, plus a little dodging. No need to apologize though.

James, I'll admit the sepia is over the top. I still process black and white film and make prints in my wet darkroom. I sometimes tone copper and/or sepia and get colors similar to these. Obviously I'm only a keystroke away from a more subtle tone--which I may do later.

e e: this is a Photoshop duotone color tweaked a bit.

Hanna: this was taken at about a 100 feet. I've shot this barn four or five time, but the light and clouds were really good on this shot. I have almost the exact same shot from the same spot taken with both my Mamiya 645 and Hasselblad 501 taken with their normal (80mm) lenses. I think this was shot at very close to 35mm (which because of the sensor on the 10D works out to be about 50mm on a normal 35mm camera).

Thanks again for all the comments.
