interesting, nice, captivating...could you include all of the left foot and do something differently with the window ledge?

Bruce, this was my original crop. There was some garbage to the left of the foot, and so I chose to cut it where I did, but I agree a full foot would have been preferable. What would you propose to do with the window ledge...get rid of it entirely? As I look at that option, I think I like it included.

good image i love these types of shots the only comment is the image seems to be a bit over saturated

Well here I am the dissenter again, I actually like the left foot cropped, it props up that side of the composition and keeps the design from tilting to the left . . .but, another foot after his foot might have done the same thing. I like the ledge too, gives the seller a sense of space and speaks to the idea that his surroundings are of a higher class than him and thus emphasizes his resigned nature.

Thanks Max. I've decided I like the ledge, too. For me it balances the sidewalk below, and adds more texture to the wall. Thank you everyone for stopping by and commenting!

I like the ledge too.. the photo does seem a little oversaturated however. It's particularly noticeable looking at his arms. Still, I especially like the essence of what you've captured here - the feeling that he's giving us. "I'm tired of this life. When will this end?"

Margaret, whether it be film, or processing, I find a lot of my photos print like this. Perhaps I need to desaturate it a bit in PS before uploading, so as not to get even more of that effect on the computer screen. Thanks!

Congrats Linda . Maybe you need a digital camera, no more problem with the film and precessing............Maybe Papa Noel?

Hi Linda! I am viewing this photograph today (Thanksgiving Day) at work and I empathize with that poor fellow. Well, I am thankful for at least having a good job.

The color saturation is high but, for me, not objectionable. The shadows, however, seem to be a little too dark. For color print film I am surprised that the contrast is so great. I have had good luck scanning print film as a color positive and then inverting it in Photoshop.

I like the dichotomy of the tired man emersed in a surrounding world of vibrant visual stimulation. The massive window ledge is the solid weight of responsibilty that overhangs his existence. As I've said, there is a measure of empathy here. Regards.

Linda, I agree with you. The window ledge adds to the completeness of the photograph. This is a fun image to look at and share with others.

Maybe I'm going against the flow, but it seems that without window ledge the composition would be much nicer. The ledge looks slightly distracting (maybe it's just me). As for some reddish tint, it doesn't look critical to me. However, you may try to adjust curve using eyedroppers. I also don't care too much about cropped right foot. The only thing, if you felt that you had to include it into the frame, you shouldn't care about any unwanted elements (you've said garbage). You may clone them out later in PS. Overall, very good composition, colors are amazing. To illustrate what I've said I manipulated and attached below a version of the pic. I apologize for manipulations I did without your permission. Hope, Linda, you won't get very angry. The image is really pleasant as it is.

Vlad, first of all, no apologies neccesary. After all, would Monet have complained if someone painted in an errant water lily? [LOL} I think both versions have merit, but I guess I still like the original better. Thanks again, for your comments....nice to hear from you.
