Hi! This was a hand held shot in low light with Velvia, while zoomed

in with my 70-200mm lens while panting from hiking the switchbacks.

I was also juggling flaming swords and playing the guitar while

petting my dogs. Ha ha! Okay, that last part wasn't true, I'm sure

I had to clarify that one. I didn't use any filters or anything, we

just came across this scene while backpacking the JMT. Being

experienced in the High Sierra, this scene looked more like something

from Africa or the Andes. I'm curious about your thoughts or

suggestions. Thank you!

Hand held? (whistles in admiration)... nice job... what shutter speed were you down to?

The bare trees in the foreground lit by the sun are a little distracting, but apart from that, this is wicked!

As for shutter speed, to be honest I don't know, I left it up to the Canon® gods to determine that. It was all automatically determined.

Some very interesting weather conditions. What really adds to the shot is the fact that we can see the summit of the mountain, and the sunlit snags. Are those bristlecones?

What bothers me a little bit about this composition is that I can't see the base of the snags and tree. As is, they feel a bit truncated.

Well Buck the colors are realy great and I know that a foreground plan is very important in that kind of picture but in my opinion the dead tree realy disturbs and does give any value to the photo.

Regards.
