This is one from my "road trip to Alaska" series. This was taken while

in Haines, after leaving the car in Skagway and setting off for a few

weeks touring the Inside Passage on the Alaska Marine Highway Ferry

system. Any comments or ratings are appreciated!

I found very interesting this good documentary folder, but specially this pic, a beatiful landscape.

I haven't been to Haines since I was a little kid but you've captured it well here. Can't wait to see the rest of your Southeast series, I take it you made most of the regular stops?

Yes - I made all of the regular stops ... Skagway, Haines, Juneau, Sitka, Petersburg and Ketchikan. You'll see shots from all of those cities, as well as many from the Interior (spent a month exploring the Great Land!) Thanks for your comments! [by the way, Mick - we had gorgeous weather almost the entire TWO WEEKS that we were in Southeast Alaska. I agree that we were most fortunate!!]

I like this one better than the other more close up. This really puts the man-made fort in perspective to the mountains and the forest. I like seeing the entire mountain. And I like the clouds as their own layer in the photograph. I like the layers of the whole composition. Now the forground becomes one in a series of horizontal bands. I think your portfolio would be stronger if you delete the almost shots. The close-up of this shot (the other one) was part of the journey to get this shot. It's not important now that you have the keeper. You want every single photograph in your portfolio to be a keeper. IMO :-)

Now that I've enjoyed your layercake style of composition, I'm hungry for dessert... do you bake the real thing, too? ;-)
