Breakfast In Ecuador

greg s

In one of the locations we visited, the breakfast area is located next to a forested ravine that proved to be an excellent spot for photographing the birds in the tree tops. I had the camera setup nearby, waiting for the residents to breakfast at the Cecropia tree while we dined at the table. This bird showed up only on 2 occassions, though I waited for hours.

Wasn't sure if the foreground branch adds dimension or is too much of

a distraction. This was the angle I had from 50 ft away or so.

The foreground branch is a little distracting, but you have to take these shots when and how you can get them. It would be a lot of work, but you could clone it out completely and leave the sharper branches as a natural frame. Nice colors and lighting.

Hi Greg, it's a lovely shot. The branch is slightly distracting, but not overly so. Such is the nature of taking shots in the wild. It should be possible to clone it out, but I'm not sure it's all that important.

Otherwise, the shot is great. Colours and sharpness are impressive. What species is it?

JUST THE FACT TO SHOOT WHAT I BELIVE IS A GREEN TUCAN...IS ENOUGH...ITRY IN PHOTOSHOP TO KNOCK THE BRANCH OUT AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS....I PHOTOGRAPH BIRDS IN MY COUNTRY WITH VARIOUS DIFFICULTIES..LIKE FORGROUND BRANCHES..LOW LIGHT..LEAVES..ETC..ETC..BUT AS LONG YOUR SUBJECT IS IN GREAT FOCUS..LIKE THIS GREEN ONE..MAKES IT A GREAT SHOT..CONGRATULATIONS...
