brian_wetter 0 Posted November 14, 2003 Just wondering what is the first thing that comes to mind with this photo. It is a layered exposure that was blended by hand. I was going to throw it away but it is growing on me. I have a more dramatic version with pink and blue sky's but it looks cartooney. Thanks so much for your input. Link to comment
ed_te_pas 0 Posted November 14, 2003 It feels like I am standing there to catch the latest ski lift. Great atmosphere Link to comment
corey 0 Posted November 14, 2003 Very Good photo, I enjoy the realted depth in this picture and that it isnt the typical bluesky or orange/red sunset.Very pleasing to the eye. It eases my mood. Link to comment
indywatchman 0 Posted November 15, 2003 I like the photo. The shadows on the forground trees suguest another light source from the right. This is a little confusing to the composition. Link to comment
root 0 Posted November 16, 2003 Some photographers consider integrity of lighting to be an essential part of aesthetics. That is, if there are two light sources - two suns, or and a sun and moon that are illogically balanced - then the picture makes no sense. On the other hand, some viewers may process the whole image as a logical composition, which it is, then look at each element separately. You may like the image or not, but as a photographer - one who writes with light - hopefully you at least recognize and understand the issue. Brian, for me it almost works. That is, if the foreground had more diffuse lighting, then that second light source would be the sky itself and the conflicting directions wouldn't get your attention. Link to comment
alethea_hollis 0 Posted November 16, 2003 Probably other photographers would pick up on the lighting, but it certainly does not spoil it in any way. Great atmosphere captured here, quite magical, love it. Alethea Link to comment
brian_wetter 0 Posted November 16, 2003 I think that the snow drifts behind the trees may be confusing and look like a light source from the right. They are actually just snow drifts and with the light from behind the mountain are casting a shadow towards the viewer. I will see if I can post the two original images that I merged. No special tricks here. Link to comment
