hanna_cowpe 0 Posted November 9, 2003 Swans create the most difficult exposure problems. Any advice or comments are appreciated. Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted November 9, 2003 Gorgeous! They're so graceful!! I wish the water were blue-er. The necks' perfect arches into the water is what makes this shot. Wonderful capture, Hanna!! Regards!! Link to comment

MichaelChang 12 Posted November 10, 2003 I think playing around with auto-bracketing, spot metering, manual shutter speed and ISO settings would offer many exposure options. I don't know how good your LC viewfinder is, and would surely affect what you see - my camera doesn't have one, which makes bright day time shooting virtually useless. Of course, post-processing is always an option. Link to comment
hanna_cowpe 0 Posted November 11, 2003 Lou Ann, the grey water is a trade-off for subdued swan white. The sun will give a nice blue water but will also render the swans brilliant white. I've shot them in the sun and got some strong shadows on them which can be interesting. They are daily visitors so are becoming less shy and realize I'm not going to beat them with my tripod. Michael, thanks for your suggestions. I do have a viewfinder which does help in bright weather. The bracketing is a bit slow for brief opportunities as these birds move suprizingly fast. I generally meter somewhere where the swan meets the water and it seems to have worked with this one. Link to comment
