Well I like this one a lot Len. The position of the waterline horizontally and the tree line vertically and especially the one leaning tree and its reflection. Square format works very good here.

Also, I'm curious about your thoughts on using 800 speed film set at 500.

Ken, With my gear & Superia 800 film ISO 800 has proven to be an bit optomistic so I rate it at 500. Works for me, providing the extra negative density previous shots lacked. Best, LM.

Let's hear what's on your mind on how you would approach this scene,

what you would do to improve it. It was taken at about 6AM on a mild

mid September morning in Algonquin Park, On. Best, LM.

I think it is very hard to get good shots from foggy and low light shadowed weather. The very calm but breathtaking mood is not easy to reproduce. I think you did well here. It is important that the trees in the background are visible to make it 3D and to understand the fogginess.

Hi Len, You're very fortunate to find water that calm. It has been a target of mine for months but the year or my activities just haven't been co-operating. The white pine is my favourite. I'm sold on this one! Greg

Len, I like this image a lot. The small leaning tree adds some interest, but what really makes the image are the very faint trees in the background. They give the scene perspective and depth. Imagine if that area was completely obscured by denser fog; it wouldn't be as effective.

Nothing to critique that I can see. And all I have to say about it this:  If I had a print of it, I would hang it!

Thanks for your kind words & for taking the time to dig through my portfolio to come up with this old favourite of mine.  It was taken at first light with ISO 800 film. (I know, not the first choice of landscape photographers though the result was better than I expected)  The original scan from about 11 years ago is now lost to antiquity but if I had to I could probably locate the negative & rescan it.  I really should have printed it & may yet do so.  Best, LM.
