I am always rewarded when I stop at your pictures. The red is gorgeous. His face is also. I am not sure that the metal candle holder in front of his face works for me. I think it says to me the prayer is more important than the man who gave it. Or even more explicitely, the structure built to hold the prayer is more important than the man who brings a prayer. What I like is that you started this dialog in me that I find interesting. Prayer to me is a wonderful subject! Actually I've found that the subject in your young orthodox youth and again in Papa Nefetis too. You also find the subject interesting. :-)

hm, very dramatic... bloodlike candles and black iron... the face in the background... I think I had to look at this picture for a long time before I understand it (in my way at least) or make an opinion... interesting photo.

Zita - It's ok to look at a picture a long time. I do it often. Some pictures have an emotional appeal that you don't want to put it down and rush off. You may want to sit with it a long time and let it get inside you. Think about it and let the stories and associations develop in your mind. We all want a picture to spring off the page and require no thinking. In our mass media, fast slide-show world with images being given just seconds, only the ones that spring off the page stand out. I wonder how many great pictures would be ignored in such a viewing chamber. If the photographer has gone to the effort to make an interesting image doesn't that image deserve a little effort by the viewer as well? I would rather spend 10 minutes looking at one of Michael's images than 10 seconds each looking at 60 others without the care he puts in.

Thank you, all of you, for your comments and your marks. For me this photo or better to call it pictuer, simbolies the relationship between the beliver, the single beliver, and his God. the wish of the small hummen being to his All Migthy !

The illustration of the photo did it by the lower

man who is preing below of the candels. The small light and the dark backround rearly helps me to put it straite forward. The composition in that photo created an blanced situation between the beliver and his God.
